The shop is the interface in Dota Underlords where heroes may be purchased.

Buying heroes

The shop contains 5 heroes for players to purchase with gold. Each hero in the shop is priced accordingly to their tier. Tier One heroes cost 1 gold, Tier Two heroes cost 2 gold, and so on. Ace heroes cost 5 gold.

The shop can be accessed and purchased from at any time. All units purchased from the shop are Level 1.

Re-rolling

Gold can be used to re-roll the shop. When you re-roll, the shop refills all its slots with new heroes, any hero left in the shop will be replaced. The shop refreshes automatically at the start of each preparation phase and can be refreshed (re-rolled) manually by the player for 2 gold. A free re-roll of the shop is also granted after a combat loss to an opposing player.

Blacklisting

Whenever you manually re-roll the shop, any heroes left in the shop from the previous refresh are blacklisted: those heroes are prevented from appearing in any slots of the refreshed shop. This mechanic can be used to increase the odds of seeing desirable heroes, by removing the possibility of getting undesireable heroes.

Automatic refreshes of the shop at the start of each preparation phase can show unpurchased heroes from the previous shop.

Shop odds

The current Player Level determines the odds of finding a certain tier of hero in the shop. Each of the 5 slots in the shop is assigned a hero tier using the tier odds for each Player Level:

Player Level Tier One Tier Two Tier Three Tier Four Ace
Level 1 100%
Level 2 70% 30%
Level 3 60% 35% 5%
Level 4 50% 35% 15%
Level 5 40% 35% 25%
Level 6 30% 30% 30% 10%
Level 7 25% 30% 30% 15%
Level 8 22% 27% 30% 20% 1%
Level 9 20% 23% 29% 25% 3%
Level 10 15% 21% 28% 30% 6%
Level 10 with
A higher class of criminal icon A Higher Class of Criminal
15% 20% 25% 30% 10%

The odds of seeing a particular hero in the shop are also determined by the number of copies of that hero remaining in the Heroes Pool, and the number of copies of all other heroes of that same tier in the pool. The choice is random from all the copies of heroes at that tier, with each copy of heroes weighted equally. For example, the chance to get an Arc Warden in a Tier Four slot, when there are currently 5 Arc Wardens owned by players, and all the 20 copies of the other 11 Tier Four heroes are still in the pool, is 6.4% (15 / (11 * 20 + 15)).

These two sets of odds are applied as follows, independently for each of the 5 slots in the shop:

  1. choose a tier for the slot, using the current Player Level and the odds chart above
  2. choose a hero randomly from all the copies of heroes at that tier currently in the Heroes Pool

Ace Tier Odds

The odds of seeing a particular Ace hero in the shop can be affected by having the Ace hero's alliance enabled. The odds are affected when the alliance is enabled by either heroes on the board, or heroes on the bench. Only one level of the alliance is required.

When an Ace unit is chosen for a slot in the shop, the odds of it being the Ace unit associated with an enabled alliance is increased by 15%. This has the following effect on the application of the odds to for a slot in the shop:

  1. choose a tier for the slot, using the current Player Level and the odds chart above
  2. choose a hero randomly from all the copies of heroes at that tier currently in the Heroes Pool
  3. if the Ace tier is chosen, apply a 15% chance to replace the chosen Ace hero for each enabled alliance

For example, once a slot is chosen to be Ace, and assuming that all 10 copies of each of the 7 Ace heroes is still in the hero pool:

  • if no Ace alliances are enabled, the chance of a particular hero being chosen for that slot is 14.29% (1 in 7)
  • if only the Warlock Warlocks ii alliance is enabled, the chance of Disruptor mini icon Disruptor being chosen is increased to 27.14%, while the chance of any other Ace hero is decreased to 12.14%.
  • if both the Warlock Warlocks ii and Shaman Shaman ii alliances are enabled, the chances of Disruptor mini icon Disruptor and Enigma mini icon Enigma being chosen are both increased to 25%, while the chance of any other Ace hero is decreased to 10%.

  • XP is now given before the shop refreshes at the start of the round. If you gain a level at the end of a round, your shop for the next round is now based off that new level.
  • Shop refreshes no longer use the blacklist mechanic. Only user-initiated shop refreshes (i.e. rerolls, free and paid) use the blacklist mechanic.
  • Adjusted hero tier distribution curves. Tier Four and Tier Five pieces are somewhat more common at high levels:
